Coordinator’s Corner - September 2025

Transportation Coordinator Cameron Narboe shares updates from her department.

Dear Members,

Change seems to be everywhere these days, and here at LARSO, we're feeling it too. In the Transportation Department, we're making some updates that I'm genuinely excited about, and I'd love for you to be part of them.

One of the most significant changes is the return of Ride Tickets. If you've ever used our Meal Tickets, you're already familiar with their convenience. Although rides are always free, if you can donate to your ride, the suggested donation for a Ride Ticket is $45 for 10 rides and $90 for 20 rides. You can purchase tickets online, at the Centers, or from your driver.

We’re also shifting our perspective on who uses our transportation. You don't have to give up driving to ride with us. If you have a car but don't feel like driving one day, you're welcome to hop on board. Every ride you take helps keep this free service strong for everyone in our community.

Another thing close to my heart is the growth of our Volunteer Driver Program (VDP). This program connects people with essential medical care "off the Hill". For some, these rides are the only way they can make it to an appointment. Even if you can give just one ride a month, you could be making a massive difference in someone's life.

We are planning to start group bus trips to Walmart, Smith's, and the Los Alamos Farmers Market. These outings will not only be about shopping but also a great opportunity to get out, see friends, and enjoy a stress-free ride. However, these trips can only occur if enough people sign up, so please let me know if you're interested.

September is Transportation Month for our Annual Campaign. While the County helps us keep our vehicles fueled and maintained, your donations ensure we can keep this program fully staffed and available when you need it. Your support truly keeps our wheels turning.

And because change should also be fun, we've got field trips on the horizon! On October 18, we're heading to the historic Trinity Site and then lunching at the famous Owl Bar Café in San Antonio, NM.

It is an exciting season for our Transportation Program, and I hope you'll ride along with us, literally and figuratively.

See you on the road,

Cameron
