Candy Cane Cookies
1/2 cup butter softened 1/2 cup shortening
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tea almond extract
1 tea. Vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tea salt
1/2 tea red food coloring
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix butter, shortening, sugar, egg and flavorings. Blend in flour and salt. Divide dough in half, blend food color into half of the dough. Shape each color dough into 4-inch ropes and twist together. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 9 minutes.
Makes a dozen large cookies
