How We Are Funded (part 1)

picture of how we are funded

It is important to remember that we are a NON-PROFIT organization first and foremost. Although we abide by our State and County funding regulations, we are overseen by a Board of Directors and run by an Executive Director and staff.

We are a VERY fortunate Senior Activity Center in that we receive funding from three sources: the State, the County and generous Donors.

Our County contract is a seven year contract where we act as a Subcontractor to the County. Our contract is housed within the County Social Services Department. Currently we are in year 4 of this contract.

The County provides us two types of funding: financial and in-kind. The in-kind funding includes our buildings (the structure, maintenance and expenses of heat/cooling etc.) and our Fleet (the cars and maintenance of the cars) we use for our transportation service. They also provide a set amount of funds to help cover staff salaries, and supplies for programs (food, overhead, insurance, etc.). Each year we receive less than 1/2% financial increase in our contract. (Note: this doesn’t even cover the National cost of living increases)
