Important Things to Know About Your Senior Activity Center

All Members Need to Be REASSESSED Every Year

Our state funding is closely linked to the number of members we have. When you first join the center you are assessed by our Membership Coordinator or Case Manager. EVERY YEAR near your anniversary date, you need to be reassessed so we can continue receiving funding for meals, transportation and the other services we provide. Currently we have 77 members who need to be reassessed. Please help us - if you haven’t been reassessed please call 505.662.7957 or email hdm@losalamosseniorcenter.com to make an appointment. Assessments can be done at either Center.

Why Your Lunch Might Be A Little Late

Our drivers deliver lunches between 11:30 and 1:30 Monday through Friday. We do our best to get the lunches out as quickly as possible. If you don’t receive your lunch by 1:30 please call the center.

  • If we have had snow, not all roads may be clear. Our drivers will take extra care for their own safety when delivery your meals. This may delay your meal.

  • We are regularly adding new home delivered meal recipients to our drivers routes. As the routes get bigger, there may be delays.

  • Sometimes there may be a delay in the kitchen due to equipment failure or other issues. This may cause a delay.

Snow Delays & Closures

is our top priority for our staff and members when it comes to snow. Know that it is difficult for us to close our Centers but we also want to make sure everyone stays safe. We don’t close at the drop of the hat and do our best to alert everyone when there is a change.

You can find out closure information in the following ways:

  • on our website (www.larso.org);

  • via our center voicemails; (505-662-8920 or 505-672-2034)

  • via email which we send out as soon as possible;

  • and soon via a robo call to your phone.

Please remember to sign in

This is extremely important for our County and State funding.

What is going on with the temperature at Betty Ehart?

Did you know the Betty Ehart Center doesn’t have a traditional HVAC system? In the summer we use the equivalent of a swamp cooler and in the winter it is an on/off switch for heat. There are no real thermostat controls. Every year it is a challenge but this year especially as there is something wrong with the unit that can’t seem to be diagnosed. This is why it can be 90 degrees in the Administration offices and 60 degrees in the classroom. In Fall of 2026 we will be getting a completely new HVAC system. Until then, please be patient, wear layers and know we are doing our best to moderate a difficult situation.
