NEW Volunteer Opportunity: Day Out Lunch Helper
LARSO is looking to fill a new volunteer role with the Day Out program at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center.
About Day Out
The Adult Day Out Program at LARSO provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for older adults and individuals with mild physical or cognitive challenges. Unlike a nursing home or assisted living facility, all participants in this program are independent in personal care. We focus on enhancing quality of life through social interaction, stimulating activities, and nutritious meals.
Volunteer Lunch Helper Responsibilities
Meal Preparation Assistance: Aid staff in setting up the dining area, including arranging tables and chairs to accommodate all participants comfortably.
Meal Service: Serve meals to participants, ensuring they receive their appropriate meal and any necessary condiments or beverages.
Beverage Service: Offer and serve beverages such as water, juice, or coffee to participants during the meal.
Social Interaction: Engage with participants during the meal to foster a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Post-Meal Cleanup: Assist in clearing tables, washing dishes, and cleaning the dining area to prepare for the next meal service.
Time Commitment
One day a week, Monday through Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm
Qualifications
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks such as setting tables and serving meals.
Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, compassionate, and patient demeanor with a genuine interest in working with older adults.
