Meet Our Day Out Coordinator - Sarah Treibel
Hello, I am grateful to be a part of the Senior Center community. I feel at home and welcomed by the beautiful family of the Day Out program. I have lived in Espanola for the past six years where I am inspired by the valley’s beauty. I live with my husband and two boys (two and four years old). My family enjoys camping and dance parties, and the boys keep me busy with examining bugs and playing in water.
I have always had a passion for dance as it is when I feel most free and at my best. Making art and creating things with my hands brings me joy. I enjoy cooking meals for friends and family while sharing their company. Sitting by a fire at the end of the night, chatting with my husband, is my favorite way to end the day.
I have spent the past twenty years in social work as a case manager and program manager. In my social work career, I have worked with resettled refugees, homeless youth, teen parents, trafficking victims, and most recently, at a drug and alcohol rehab for Natives. I believe every person deserves to be seen and treated with kindness and respect. I am grateful for the privilege to “see” the seniors and experience their unique gifts.
Though I am new, I already have some favorite moments from work. The humor that our Day Out members bring is a breath of fresh air. Their optimism and determination, bravery to try new activities, and meet new faces, and their willingness to go with the flow are inspiring. I instantly admired them and realized how much I can learn from them.
Thank you to the families and caretakers of our Day Out members! Thank you for trusting me with your precious family. I hope to create a space in which every person is seen, appreciated, smiled at, and given attention with care. My hope is that during their time here they feel safe, taken care of, and loved.
